This is a Japanese WWll Naval Civilian officer`s sword in combat mountings, the blade is signed "Noshu Seki ju Kawamura Masanobusaku 濃州関住川村正信作" with 関inspection stamp. Shinogi-zukuri shape, WWll time period ca. 1940 era made blade. Masanobu lived in Seki city, Gifu prefecture, made swords during the WWll time, listed in Modern Japanese Swordsmths page 103. The blade is in old polish but no rust, no stains and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome temper throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. Forging grain is tight, no opening, no blister and no forging flaws. There is no bend, no nick, no crack and cutting edge is sharp. The scabbard is black leather covered wood, leather cover is no tear and in good condition. Handle is tight fit with cherry flower motif brass fuchi / kashira, tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut, no loose and in good condition. Tsuba is mokko shape cherry flower motif brass with nice patina. It measures 27+1/4" tip to the guard, 26+3/8" cutting edge, 1+3/16" width, 6 mm thickness at the notch and 37+3/4" in mountings. Please look at all photos.
