Description: WW2 VERY RARE German Wermacht Zollgrenzschutz/--S--S-- ID DOG TAG is a rather interesting and rare badge of a soldier of the Third Reich Customs and Border Guard, the so-called financial guard.A brief historical note.Initially, the units of the German Financial Border Guard (Zollgrenzschutz) were organizationally subordinated to the Ministry of Finance (Reichsfinanzministerium) and guarded the borders of Germany. At the same time, they were also trained to perform auxiliary tasks in the event of war. In particular, in 1938, they took part in the occupation of Austria and the Czechoslovakian border area. After the outbreak of World War II, Zollgrenzschutz units were deployed on the borders of the occupied countries (Poland, Scandinavia, France, the Balkans, and the USSR) and were also used in the fight against partisans.Interestingly, after the failed assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944, the Zollgrenzschutz units came under the command of Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler, who at that time also commanded the Reserve Army.
