Description: A very nice example of a World War One Mid-to-Late War Imperial German Army Infantryman's Painted Metal Belt Buckle as worn in Trenches of the Western Front 1914-18 A cracking example of a surviving field-grey painted combat belt buckle as worn in the Kaiser's Army and bearing the legend Gott Mit Uns (God is With Us) in the centre circle over the Kaiser's Crown. Found near Ypres and in a complete condition the remaining field-grey painted patina has a light veneer of rust (primarily to the front) but is in really great condition for its age, so making for a a smashing metal belt buckle formerly belonging to a WW-I German Infantryman on the Ypres Salient. Part of an on-going acquisition ofa fascinating militaria collection of British, German & FrenchGreat War Barn-found & Trench Dugartefacts from The Somme, Verdun, Chalon & Arras in Franceand from the Ypres Salient of Belgiumthat was carefully built up & curated over a 40-year period.
