The paint in the cups looks dried out or gelled so you may need to use your own paints if you want to paint these figures, or it just might be the type of watercolor paint that you dab a wet paint brush onto to activate the paint. If you need to use fresh paints, acrylics or some water based paints can be used. The pirate figures are about 5.75" tall. There is a pirate outlaw, deck hand, and pirate captain, along with a pirate chest. Pictures on the back of box show some colors suggested to paint up, or use your imagination.
