Description: For your consideration is this vintage planter produced by the American Bisque Pottery Company of Williamstown, WV during the 1950s. This piece is featured on page 19 of American Bisque Collector's Guide by Mary Jane Giacomini. The book refers to the piece as "Reclining Horse" and was available in several different color pallets. Some bear their signature wedge bottom, but others, like this piece, have a flat base. The white planter appears to have been hand painted with the pink mane appearing as if it were air sprayed. The black eyes and nose holes look hand painted as well. I did observe some cracks; one being on the back of the horse's head by the opening to the planter portion. The second extends across the bottom and the third being towards the back of the opening. The inside look to have had some defects during molding and some of the glazed areas are missing leaving an unglazed surface. This is hardly a problem with used as a vessel to hold a bottle brush tree for the holidays. Great for an arrangement for baby showers as well. It measures 6.5 inches long x 2.9 inches wide x 4.4 inches tall. Shop with confidence when you shop with us. Our items are gently cleaned, disinfected, and deodorized prior to listing.
