Description: This is a vintage American Eagle door knocker.Unsure if brass or bronze.It is 8 1/2 in long and 4 in. wide.It was originally on my front door when I moved in, in 1981 The house was built in 1921.I have no reason to believe it isn't the original door knocker from 1921.I cleaned off 90 % of the tarnish that was on it .I followed "wikiHow" online directions by rubbing it with a sponge and "Brasso 7 metal polish".I then soaked it in 1/2 strength vinegar/water over night, rinsed it and then resoaked in new 1/2 strength vinegar/water overnight.I'm attaching before and after pictures.The darker pictures are of the door knocker before I cleaned it.2 in mounting screws are included.
