Measures: 30" Long x 13"Wide Artist Glynda Turley of Heber Springs said there has never been a moment in her life when she hasn’t felt the need to create.Growing up in rural Arkansas in the ’50s and ’60s, Turley said art classes and art supplies weren’t available to her.“I wasn’t even exposed to art,” she said. That didn’t stop her from becoming one of the most well-known artists in the country.Turley said the closest thing to a local artist was Louise Stark, who was a sign painter. When Turley and her family would take their Saturday trips to Heber Springs from Ida, she said, she remembers passing by Stark’s house.“I would admire her sign in her yard advertising her sign business,” Turley said. “Little did I know that I would someday own a factory that framed my artwork, and Louise would be one of our top mat cutters, as well as a huge fan and supporter of my work.” With her No. 2 school pencil and lined notebook paper as her art medium until she was in her early 20s, Turley always had a creative thirst that she couldn’t quite figure out how to quench.
