Vintage 1955 Lace Satin Tulle Wedding Dress

Description: This is my mother’s wedding gown, worn once, in 1955, nearly 70 years ago! It is fitted in the bodice and has a full lace/tulle/satin skirt. In order to get the gown so white, I washed it carefully in OxiClean. Because of this, there is some damage to the lace, which you can see if you zoom in on the photos. I have hand-sewn some of the holes in the lace, but not all. It is delicate work, but not difficult. The dress is shown (in the first 3 photos from 1955) being worn with a hoop petticoat, which is not included (I don’t have it). To wear it today, it will fall much straighter down and won’t puff out so much. I used a model to show what the dress looks like without the hoop underneath. Originally, the collar was worn up as shown in the 3 photos from 1955; my guess is that was due to it being heavily starched. One could do that, or opt to have the collar lay down. Either way, it may need to be starched and/or pressed. One button on one sleeve is slightly damaged. Some of the buttons on the back have some discoloration on them. You can see all of this in the photos. There is no size listed on the dress; I have shown the tape measure in the photos. From looking at size charts, it fits in with XS . Measurements: Bust 32” ( armpit to armpit is about 15” plus darts, so there could be a bit more room at the bust, maybe up to 34 but probably not more than that. Waist 25” Hips, not really applicable, as the dress is not tight fitting at the hips at all, as it’s a very full style, the tape shows about 46” Shoulder seam to hem 50“ Total circumference of hem is 57” front + 57” back, for a very full-skirt total of 114 Please ask any questions, such as for specific measurements, as the dress is not returnable. For what it’s worth, my parents were very happily married for over 40 years.
