Description: Offering a vintage 1920's-30's Western Electric 389W Microphone. This is classed as a "candlestick type" mic, mounted onto a Western Electric stand and wired to a 3 foot cloth-insulated cable. These originally has a carbon element inside that required DC voltage to function, and were typically used in early AM radio stations as "Specialty Mics", probably for remotes, on location interviews, etc. The quality would have been both noisy and poor, so we have modified this piece with a high quality dynamic element. Now the mic is compatible with any modern mixer or sound system, and has a fidelity profile that can be used for most any voice-related function. Physically, the top to bottom nickel coating on the mic head and stand is still very presentably, with just some mild wear and aging. The original felt covering underneath the stand is still in good shape. The cloth-insulated cable has been wired to a standard 1/4" male phono plug. (We can swap the 1/4" plug for an XLR if you prefer at no charge.) ** Audio sample available upon request. Always safe secure packaging and fast fair shipping. **** WE BUY OLD MICROPHONES...INVENTORY REGULARLY UPDATED **** Click on my eBay username for details. (Text or call.)
