Description: Hymns for the use of The Methodist Episcopal Church. Revised edition, published in 1850 by Lane & Scott, New York. Full leatherbound hardcover, 4 X 6 X 1.5 inches, containing two front and back flyleaves, the major text (752 pages), and a Supplement: Hymns for Sunday-Schools, Youth, and Children (48 pages, including a two page index). Shows some wear. There's a 2 in. split running up the front spine edge and board corners are rubbed through. The leather though is shedding very little, if at all. Pen and pencil notations and scribbles on the flyleaves front and back, including the names "Anna Husbands" (Wilmington Del.) and "R. J. Husbands", and similar notations and scribbles on a few pages inside. The bottom corner of the last page of text (the Supplement's Index) is torn out, as is the following back flyleaf. And the flyleaves are beginning to fall away from the binding. About average foxing inside. Otherwise securely bound. Board corners are a little bowed outward. Vintage, pre-Civil War hymnal.
