It was the second and final one to feature Snowy White on lead guitar. Now, there are those who will decry this album as being a comparatively minor part of the Lizzy Catalogue. But that is to do an injustice to a record that has some outstanding moments. Opening song 'Angel of Death' is a vibrant, fiery song which was released as a single in America, and became something of a cause celebre with latter-day metal bands, at least two of whom have covered it. It was also something of a blueprint for what was to follow for Lizzy on 'Thunder And Lightning' 'Hollywood (Down On Your Luck)' has some typically to the point lyrics from Phil Lynott, while the title track itself is another thrusting anthem, Co-Produced by Chris Tsangarides, it showed that Lizzy were prepared to rise to the challenges offered by a new decade, and refused to be cowed by the arrival on the the scene of some young, hot bands who were out to make their mark. 'Renegade' tells of a band who stood proudly for what they believed in, and still had so much to offer, not just to old school fans, but also to a younger generation who were just the beginning to test the waters of their rock excitement. More than 30 years down the line, 'Renegade' represents a period when Lizzy might have been in transition, but were still capable of making great music.
