Description: This saga of the hobbits and their journey to save middle earth from the dark forces has been read by millions since its post WWII publication. Maybe rank it among the best epic adventures ever told and expose it as allegorical for good vs. evil, man vs. nature, war vs. peace, etc. Stephen Colbert cites it as his favorite book and the most influential. (Sam is his favorite character!) Originally published in three volumes, this edition brings all three - in complete, unabridged form, into a single volume. Illustrated on front and back covers with photos from the film series. The three volumes included are The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. Each includes several books and multiple chapters. Also includes extensive prologue and introduction and appendices. This volume does not include the separate book, written as a prequel, The Hobbit, which technically is not part of the trilogy. Book is in good condition with no writing, no highlighting, no marginal notes. The Binding is tight. There is some page yellowing in the first few pages and at page edges, but nothing that interferes with legibility. There is minor creasing on the back cover at edges. Very minor evidence of a former adhesive price sticker on the spine. The cover is glossy and in my photos you will see some reflection of the cameral and lights; those are not actually on the cover.
