It is the dominant club in terms of national titles in the country, especially after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia, winning eleven of the first eighteen editions of the Czech championship from 1993 onwards.[1] Its heyday, however, is considered to have been during the 1920s, when it came to be considered the strongest team in the world, earning the nickname ‘Iron Sparta’ at the time.[2][3] The Generali Arena played host to 21,000 fans. Generali Arena for 21,111 people. The club's name refers to the Greek city of Sparta and makes for one of the world's fiercest rivalries with Slavia Prague.[4] The club was founded in 1893 and uses the colours blue (symbolising Europe), red (symbolising the royal city) and yellow (together with red, the official colours of the city of Prague) on its badge. The uniform uses grey and, to a lesser extent, white. It was the uniform of the English Arsenal team at a time when their shirts were ordered to be worn by Sparta.[3]
