Description: I put this kit together because I got tied of the weak clamping force on side terminal batteries. The battery side terminal threads are lead and the threads can't handle much load before the stock bolt just starts to spin and strips them out. The stock bolts only have a few treads on them and barely engage the threads in the battery. This kit is a true stud conversion where the full length of the battery terminal treads are only loaded by a hand tighten stud. The friction of the clamping action occurs on the stainless steel stud itself under the stainless steel serrated flange nut. This removes all the twisting load from the weak lead battery terminal threads. The stud is long enough to allow other terminal ends to be stacked on. It can be trimmed shorter if you want it flush with the end of the nut. There is also a lot more meat there to connect battery cable clamps. This is better than using a bolt. If the bolt is too long it can break through the bottom of the weak lead treads in the battery. The stud can be hand tightened into the battery side and take full advantage of 100% of all the threads there. A bolt still imparts twisting load on the weak battery threads. You might be able to save a battery with partially stripped threads with this kit. CAUTION - Just because you can use a 9/16 wrench now on the flange nut does not mean you should whale on it. All you have to do is get the spring loaded washer in the battery cable end to flatten out and make good contact. The stud is still bedded in lead and not steel, so normal 3/8 bolt toque does not apply. The studs and nuts are stainless. The special terminal end washer is lead. Each kit contains 2 studs, nuts and special washers. Sent USPS Ground Advantage.
