Description: Two nickel-sized leaves of Salvinia Natans are spread on the surface of the water, and the third is under water, acting as a root. Flotation is made possible by the air sacs inside the leaves. Cuticular papillae on the surface of the leaves prevent water from interfering with the function of the leaves and protect them from decay. Spore cases are formed at the base of the plant for reproduction. The leaves of Salvinia Natans prevent sunlight from reaching the water. It is helpful for many freshwater fish and provides safe havens for breeding, but can interfere with the photosynthesis of many underwater plants. Without ecological competition, they can eventually cover entire ponds and lakes without starving other plants. Difficulty: Easy Light Requirements: Low Growth Rate: High
