Description: The item for sale is a group of six luncheon plates that were made by Royal Doulton in England during the period 1948-1960. The pattern is called "The Kirkwood". The pattern has the appearance of English pottery that would have been produced a hundred years earlier in the mid nineteenth century. There are fruits, leaves and flowers in the style of early transfer ware in a single color. These elements are colored in with green, orange, yellow and red. They were hand painted enamels originally but the colors on these plates are printed and under the transparent top glaze. The rim of the plates is slightly raised and fluted or scalloped. The edges are notched. The plates were previously owned. The condition is essentially pristine. There are no chips, cracks nor repairs. There may be a few light scattered utensil marks on some of the plates. The clear top glaze on the bottom of the plate may have some very light crazing. The diameter of the plates is 9 1/2".
