READ French WWI Adrian 1915 US Volunteer YMCA Ambulance Driver Helmet Battle Dam

Description: This interesting helmet has a long story so bear with me and read on.... I can not prove the story 100%, just pass along what I was able find out and believe to be correct.. This helmet most likely came back from France with a man who volunteered to Drive Ambulances in France for the YMCA before the US was officially involved in WW1 ! These volunteers were often of a "Consiencious of Religious Objector" nature and chose this service as a way to help the world during this time of madness and trench warfare. From my understanding these men were not outfitted with US uniforms, but instead used French equipment... This explains how this helmet WITHOUT Badge on the front got to me. I purchased it from an old collector who thought he had gotten it locally from a storage locker owned by a relative of the man in question. The locker was sold for non payment of the reant about 20 years ago. The helmet was found in this locker. I tried to follow up on this lead but the only surviving relative (A grand daughter) is frankly weird, and mentally ill and believes that EVERYBODY is out to get her.. She was of no help when approached.other than remembering other items he came home from France with stored in the house. A gas mask, and leather vest, now gone to who knows where. So on to the helmet....It has a rather nice helmet with some cool dents and battle damage. It looks to be the original paint and has never seen a repaint or any scars from a badge being removed. It does show numerous dents that I have pictured, so please ZOOM IN to see the details. The full liner and chin strap are intact and soft, but seem like they are rather delicate, so I never tried to undo the chin strap from on the helmet. While the liner and strap are intact, they look like it would not take much effort to rip them, so I aired on the side of caution and never messed with them. They display well as is, just seem to be like they are delicate, but again I have not tried them. I will pass along the name of who I believe it belonged to, for the new owner. But again talking to the family was a dead end, but online research might be possible. Shipped FAST & FREE !
