Description: This auction is for a RARE ANTIQUE #9 BROOKS AND PATTON, COLUMBUS OHIO CAST IRON TEA KETTLE. It sits flat (no wobbling). There are no cracks, and the outside is in excellent shape. The spout is in good shape >> no chips. There is an embossed "line" across the bottom, which I assume could be a gate leg marking (??). The inside is rusted, pitted, and has some water evaporation scaling. I would not suggest using this kettle to boil water for human consumption, but it would be perfectly fine to use on a cast iron stove to add humidity to the air in the winter. This kettle likely dates back to the mid to late 1800's. Overall length across the kettle to the tip of the spout is a bit over 12". The spout is about 8" high, and the diameter of the base is also about 8". The top of the kettle has the maker's name embossed, and the number "9". The "9" is probably a size >> the diameter at the middle is about 9". The kettle weighs about 11 lbs. 13 oz. A great old antique that would look great on your fireplace mantle or on a wood burning stove.
