('Frederick') Penzel; 1899: Penzel-Müller was formed in United States when Gustav Ludwig “Louis” Penzel (mentioned above) joined Edward George Müller (a relative) combined names to form the Penzel & Müller Co. They were German-trained craftsmen and they imported parts for their clarinets from from their homeland Vogtland/Saxony.Penzel died in the 1920s and Muller (americanized "Mueller') died in the 1950s **************************************************************************** CLARI-MET clarinet advertisements from the 1920s: “They combine in the highest degree the essential qualities of free and pure tone, perfection in scale and mechanism, ease of manipulation and execution” From - Penzel-Müller ad of the 1920s. This clarinet serial number is three digits: 2XX and is an early Clari-Met CLARINET. CLARI-MET LINE WAS THE MOST EXPENSIVE CLARINET MADE (1909-1920s) THEY USED A SPECIAL ALLOY.
