Description: Paul Jouve Two Parrots Sculpture Siefried Bing L'Art Nouveau Retail Mark DETAILS There are a few chips to the tail feathers of the larger bird, there is also a brown spot on the top of the larger bird's head which appears to be a slight production defect - please refer to all pictures for best idea of exact condition Sculpture is 14" tall, 6 1/2" wide & 5 1/2" deep Weighs 3 lb 13 oz Paul Jouve (1878 - 1973) was a French painter, illustrator and sculpture primarily known for his depictions of African animals. This appears to be a sculpture from early in his career, but details are hard to find and confirm. I have found two references to other examples of this sculpture - one being an auction record on French auction site Aguttes from November 2015 where an example sold from 1020 Euros - that auction listing identified the manufacturer as Gerard, Dufraisseix & Morel. The other reference is a photograph of an example held at the Museum of Arts & Industry in Hamburg, Germany dating the piece at 1900 - but I have been unable to confirm this This example "JOUVE" impressed in to base - see pictures, and the L'Art Nouveau retail mark of Siegfried Bing (1838 - 1905), a renown German-French art dealer based in Paris FREE FEDEX HOME DELIVERY SHIPPING & INSURANCE
