Original Pre-Columbian Bowl from Chorotega, Nicaragua - Delightfully Elegant

Description: Chorotega was the most powerful pre-Columbian culture in Central America, including Nicaragua, during 800 - 1350 AD. They formed a cultural link between the civilizations of the Andean region and those of Mexico. As corn farmers, traders and warriors they formed a vibrant culture. As with other pre-Columbian cultures, they were very skilled at pottery for utilitarian and ceremonial purposes. They adorned their clays with natural dyes and fired them in wood burning ovens. They created beautiful handcrafted pottery. This handsome cup is shiny with black and brown tones and a very good representation of this craft. The lip is carved with a light band of primitive geometric shapes and a small protruding knob. This is an elegant and original piece and a wonderful addition to pre-Columbian collectors or enthusiasts. Price includes free shipping anywhere in the United States.
