Description: You are invited to bid on this rare LEE PRO / Jigmaster with Steel Blue billet aluminum side plates and matching anodized aluminum spool conventional reel conversion. This reel has been customized to a (99 reel spool width) utilizing a 2 1/8" wide spool and Newell graphite reel frame - complete with the graphite speed clamp assembly and stainless steel Allen head screw hardware as shown. This custom reel size is commonly referred to as an Albacore Special. The spool width is specifically sized right in the middle of a standard Penn 501 Jr narrow spool width and the standard Penn 500 spool width reel. This reel features a custom 5 to 1 gear ratio stainless steel gear set - Penn 24-66 counterweight handle. Reel has a steel bridge and yoke. Reel is equiped with Super Smooth drag washers with steel flat washers in the drag stack. Operation is solid in and out of gear - super smooth free spool and the star drag system functions as intended. Prior to listing this reel was completely disassembled as shown - cleaned and properly serviced utilizing Penn lubricants and a touch of Cal's drag washer grease. Reel is in great mechanical and cosmetic condition. Cosmetically the reel is showing some scratches and some minor abrasions consistent with normal use as can be clearly be seen in the photos. Vintage reel has no corrosion issues. Even though this reel is ready to add some line - a rod and be fished - I feel that this reel would be better served as a valued addition to a vintage reel collection due to its low production numbers. A quick internet search indicates that possibly less than 300 copies of this reel were ever produced. Please check out the photos carefully as I use them to enhance my verbal description. Carl Also made the Newell 338 (2 7/16") which is the identical width of a Penn 500. A Penn Jigmaster 501 Jr reel spool measures 1 5/8" wide.
