He is a God of riches, an equivalent of Vaishravana, and thus is the protector of the Northern direction. Wonderful face with well executed dual expression of rage and madness.This is a Ji mask made from paper mache and hand painted.Samurai were known to wear these type of masks on the back of their head to confuse and frighten enemies, hence, no eyeholes. Very well carved and painted, age losses to paint with a wonderful feel of age.
