Description: SEE VIDEO to appreciate this HIGH QUALITY iron bird/ dove made by Jan Barboglio. DOUBLE SIGNED by Jan Barboglio. You will receive one (1). This Jan Barboglio CandleHolder is a unique rustic piece of art that features a hand-forged iron bird sculpture, measuring 9 inches in length 4 inches wide, and 3 inches in height. These are originally made to place a candle on it's back and are candleholders. As a collector of Jan Barboglio pieces, these a beautifully displayed without any candle and used as decor. The bird is solid iron and weighs 3 pounds. It can be used as a candle holder, with a small glass candle placed on the back of the bird. This piece is from Barboglio's Iron Collection and was individually casted, hammered, sanded, and hand-finished -- no piece of Jan Barboglio iron pieces are alike, therefore they are one-of-a-kind pieces. This one is double signed and most of her pieces are not. The candleholder is an original piece and is slightly different from other pieces, as each one is unique. It vintage and is retired. The Barboglio CandleHolder is a great gift for any occasion, including Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter, and New Years. The sculpture has a rich history and tradition from Mexico and Latin American countries. I really love this unique dove/bird and I am sure you will too! This is part of Barboglio's Iron Collection that is hand worked iron and metal with an Old Mexico design and bronze / black color finish. This is an extraordinary design and at some point they will be extremely hard to find -- like any other piece of Jan Barboglio's retired collection. The piece is made of iron, and metal. Being a collector of Jan Barboglio -- I have seen this piece a few times, but seems to get rarer and rarer each year. Jan Barboglio described her Iron Collection as follows: "Each piece is hand worked. It is individually cast or wrought, hammered, sanded and hand finished. Variations of shading and texture are characteristic of the old world process. Each piece is slightly different. With our interpretation, some finishes are lightly applied. If you desire more protection, use a can of flat or semi-gloss polyurethane spray. These are highly collectable and with my collection of Jan Barboglio iron pieces, they tend to go off the shelf as soon as I get them. You may see brown in the piece and this is the finishing process that adds to its distinct iron metal beauty. Each of the artist piece is slightly different in shading texture, color, irregularities, and imperfections - because they are hand individually casted. The talent that goes into these pieces is just remarkable -- talent of combining materials is what makes each object of Jan Barboglio's original and distinctive and has become her trademark. She uses old wood, honed and combined with iron, glass, crystal, and stone mixed with silver and etched cut glass guarantees each object's authenticity. Her pieces are known to be aesthetically warm, primitively handsome and are TRUE WORKS OF ART. Of HIGH QUALITY and always sensuous to the touch, her works have become highly COLLECTABLE. These iron pieces handmade by Jan Barboglio have a long history in Mexico and Latin American countries. Each piece is hand worked. It is individually cast or wrought, hammered, sanded and hand finished. Slight irregularities, imperfections and variations of shading and texture are characteristics of the material and the old world finishing process that adds to its distinct beauty. JAN BARBOGLIO After many years designing clothing with her sister in their Barboglio Cristina & Jan Collection, Jan Barboglio began sculpting accessories and furniture for her own home. Her childhood, spent in north central Mexico, would prove to be fertile ground for inspiration, and every object created by her would carry with it the rich history and romance of old Mexico.Barboglio’s initial designs of wax grabbers were for her silver, bronze and iron candelabra. Altar pieces and house blessing crosses were integrated into her own home furnishings. Her love of entertainment would later result in her own iron chargers, platters and chafing dishes. Leather goods and saddle stools began to fill her home. All of these influences are evident in her Jan Barboglio Collection of today.Jan Barboglio’s original designs led the way for her current and extensive home accessories line. The Jan Barboglio Collection has since flourished into crosses and crowns, fleur de lis and scrolls, wildflowers and roses, guardian angels and symbolic bleeding hearts. From her signature Box of Miracles which houses 12 metal “milagros”, prayer and family crosses, Barboglio is now well-known for bringing the spiritual aspect of old Mexico to home decor.
