Description: ARTIFACT: This is an early World War II Pan Am "Clipper" souvenir pin. The "Clipper" style plane was popular in the 1930s and the crews even dressed in navy-like garb to bestow a feeling of safety in the passengers, who believed they were traveling in an airborne version of an ocean liner. The pin is in two parts connected by a chain: one part is a "clipper" plane and the other part is the letters US. VINTAGE: Circa early World War II. SIZE: Clipper pin: approximately 1/2" in height and 13/16" in width; US pin: approximately 1/4" in height and 5/16" in width; chain approximately 1-1/4" in length. MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-plated brass. ATTACHMENT: Two horizontal safety-style pins with linked chain and two loops. MARKINGS: N/A. ITEM NOTES: This is from an airline company collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAJX98 LHEX12/10 CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): This pin shows light wear, and the one you will receive will either be this one or one almost exactly like it. GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
