Description: Item Number HULABL. This sculpture depicts a Hawaiian "Woman in Sarong" in blue and pairs nicely with another sculpture "Drummer Boy." Gill, the artist, is believed to have come to Hawaii in the 30' or 40's supposedly from the San Francisco area. A real mystery since the artist has never been clearly identified, but his or her distinctive style of airbrush is similar to the style being sold in Hawaii during the pre and post War era. The imagery brings to mind the nostalgic "Olde Hawaii" feeling that permeated the art in Waikiki during that time; when Hollywood brought to the silver screen the "South Pacific" and "From Here to Eternity."...... an era of days gone by......... Our line of Fine Porcelain images are done as a tribute to the Artist Gill and his or her artwork and has grown to a collection of nine (9) images that are approximately 10 inches in height and come in a beautiful gift box. Great for the collector of fine Hawaiian Figurines, Hawaiiana, Nostalgic Tropical Images, or Retro Hawaiian Art. These Sculptures can be found in high-end stores selling for well over $100.00 each plus shipping; if you can even find one!
