The first batch, of 1976 Eisenhower dollars, are referred to as Type 1. The main difference between the Type I and Type II Eisenhower dollars is the lettering on the reverse. The Type I Eisenhower exhibits bold, block lettering on the reverse, wherein the Type II Eisenhower has a more elegant font. Both Type dollars contain the special bicentennial design of the Liberty Bell superimposed against the moon. The 1976 Type I Eisenhower was the earlier bicentennial dollar minted, most like in 1975 but carries the 1976 date.
