Description: A stunning example of Antique Rose Medallion china is presented for your review.Rose Medallion porcelain is a well-known Chinese export which displays hand painted art in a variety of colors: green, pastel pink, gold, yellow, red, and blue. Take note that the focal bloom is not a rose but the stunning peony, which is the national flower of China. Birds, butterflies, trees, and normally people sitting out at court are usually all around it. Please inspect these photos carefully to appreciate the detailed and exceptional art. Note the translucency of the porcelain as light shows through the delicate china. Lovely copper / gold metallic paint is used with multicolored paints. For purchasers in America and Europe, the first pieces were available for purchase in the 1850s. As a result, you may find them throughout Western interior design, including on plates, vases, and saucers, and distinguish the subtle changes between different rose patterns. "Made in China" is clearly stamped on the bottom of this soup cup and upon inspection, there do not appear to be any chips or cracks on either piece, as they are in exceptional condition, although there appears to be a pottery-fold in the lid (inspect photo). The diameter of this dainty soup cup is approximately 3 7/8" at the top rim. The base diameter is approximately 2" diameter. The cup sits 2" tall from the surface upon which it rests. The cup weighs approximately 3 ounces. There are 2 handles, each measures approximately 2" x 3/4".The soup cup lid / cover is approximately 4 1/4" diameter and weighs about 2.4 ounces. From the top of the lid edge to the base of the cover measures approximately 1".Together the set weighs about 4.5 ounces.Thank you for your consideration of this lovely set.
