Each holster receives a natural finish from a plant-based "tannin" compound used for the tanning process. The leather is then drum dyed: placed in a huge barrel-shaped drum and tumbled with the dye for 24 to 48 hours. This forces the dye into the leather for long-lasting results. Blackhawk holsters are contour stitched; the holsters are built by closely stitching along the outline of the pistol.
