Attila Duncsak was born on March 2 1940 in Uzhgorod, Ukraine. In 1967, after graduating from Vocational Secondary School of Visual Arts (Painting Major), he attended St. Petersburg Academy of Craft and Design and received a degree in Glass and Ceramics. "St. Petersburg’s baroque culture, the city’s cultural life and museums had a great influence on me. The school’s relatively free atmosphere and my outstanding teachers determined my whole future career" - he claims. From 1967 he lived and worked in Uzhgorod. In 1971 he became a member of the Alliance of Soviet Artists and the Fine Arts Foundation and was frequently taking part in group exhibitions of Sub-Carpathian artists mainly with his glass and ceramics works. He also did several mural works as Fine Arts Foundation assignments. In 1982 he moved to Košice, Slovakia with his family and in 1983 was admitted to the Alliance of Slovak Artists. Since then he has been living in Košice; he is mainly engaged in painting. He has had several personal exhibitions in Košice and also in Uzhgorod, Prague, Bratislava, Dunajska Streda, Komarno, Budapest, Debrecen and Győr. He has taken part in group exhibitions in Kiev (Ukraine), Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russia), Saint Michel, Hirson and Bessan (France), Tenerife (Spain), Gorinchen (Holland) and Brussels (Belgium). He has been member of the Assosiation of Hungarian Artists in Slovakia since it was founded. His works are present in art galleries in Košice and Uzhgorod, in the Contemporary Hungarian Art Gallery of Dunajska Streda and they can also be found in personal collections in many European countries, Canada and the USA.
