Description: This offering is for an early 19th century Academy Painted Folk Art Box. The box is made of pine with a wonderful faux paint to resemble figured maple. The center of the lid features an oval centering a basket of flowers. The background of the oval is grained to look like birdseye maple and the basket of flowers is delicately painted to resemble inlay. The box measures app. 10.5" by 7" by 3". The condition is very nice but not perfect. The hinges apparently pulled out at some point and were moved. Unfortunately who ever moved them put them on upside down causing the lid to sit unevenly. There is also a small split on the lower right front corner and light scattered wear.
