Description: Antique French Wooden Body Plane with wooden wedge to hold 1 3/4" plane iron 2 1/2" w x 8" h x 25 1/2" long This plane was purchased in a French antique shop and hand-carried to Colorado by a past client (I am a custom builder) who is from France and holds dual citizenship. There was no provenance other than the shop told my client it was very old, and a working tool. I acquired it because of my interest in all things "tool". The close-up of the iron shows the entirety of the maker's mark, in French. The iron was very tight in the body, no side play, presumably due to shrinkage of the wood over the years. It has been in dry Colorado for about the last 20 years. I also checked the flatness of the body/ shoe, and it isn't! There is enough twist in the wood that this would not be usable as intended, it is for display only in it's present state. It is really cool, and a great display (I never even thought about actually using it), but time to go, as I am starting a serious down-sizing of my domicile and possessions. Lower 48 states only.
