Description: A heavy shining and silvery bridal or cake basket that will display your deserts in rich elegance. The basket is decorated with apple blossom bands at the mouth and in the well. It has an elaborate handle with more blossoms. The handle stays up on its own. The four feet have elaborate geometric designs. There is still much silver and it has polished up well. A stamped mark on the base reads, “QUADRUPLE PLATE WILCOX SILVER PLATE Co. MERIDEN CONN” surrounding a circle with a crossed pair of hammers. A production number 0889 and number 896 are impressed into the base. MEASUREMENTS 9 ½” (24.1 cm) diameter x 9 ½” tall (24.1 cm) with handle. 3 ½” (8.9 cm) tall with handle lowered. Weighs 1 lb 13.5 oz (835 g) CONDITION There are no breaks, cracks or chips. There are some scratches and nicks in the inner well, and a few nicks on the mouth rim. There is a slight dent to the inner well which results in the basket wobbling the slightest bit when resting on a table top. It still has much silver and would not need re-plating. The handle stands on its own. An antique that is still useful today. Use it to add richness and substance to a tea party or dessert setting.
