Description: For sale is a the very cool and very rare 2024 South Africa 1/4 oz. Proof Gold Krugerrand w/"Oom Paul" privy in its Original Government packaging. The Oom Paul press was used back in 1891 to struck British coins because back then South Africa was still governed by Great Britain. This original Mint Press actually powered by steam. That press has since been replaced, but it does still operate in the South African museum to mint souvenir coins. In 2024 The South African Mint decided to produce a special 1/4 oz. Gold Proof Krugerrand struck from this original Oom Paul Mint Press, and this is one of those coins. On the obverse it has a special privy mark of the South African Mint with the date "1892." They only minted a tiny 1,967 coins, and this coin is numbered # 1,014. The coin is certified by NGC as Gem Proof and the slab is housed in a special presentation box from the South African Mint with its certificate of authenticity.As you can see from the pics the coin is just stunning with the golden mirror-image finish with frosty raised reliefs you expect from high quality gold coins. It has no major blemishes at all.
