Mercanti, and the prestigious British Royal Mint. The Royal Mint and John Mercanti partnered up for the first time to celebrate the 200-year counterbalance in the world's greatest alliance between the United Kingdom and The United States! John Mercanti was given complete creative control to produce an epic design that displays each of our countries most prolific animal, the American Eagle and the Barbary Lion. The reverse design features both animals, posed in a regal motif shoulder to shoulder, symbolizing the strength of the two nations now coexisting and supporting one another. The legend 'The Lion and The Eagle' is inscribed above the design and surrounded by two laurel leaves. The 2023 year-date and designer's 'JM' initials are also featured. The obverse design displays the effigy of his majesty King Charles III created by award-winning coin designer, Martin Jennings. The 2023 £2 Great Britain 1oz Proof Silver Lion and Eagle has a mintage of 4,510 with an even more limited First Releases population!
