Label- Alix of Miami Closes with pearly plastic buttons down the front Fabric is a medium weight, ivory cream colored linen. A silvery taupe machine embroidery. This dress is unlined. ConditionNo holes, or tears. This dress has a hand sewn hem and I do think it has been shortened from the original. The bottom button is just a few inches from the hem. I also show a photo of the underarm where there is a faint line under the armpit. There is discoloration on the belt loop. I also show a photo of an inside lining that has tears on each side. The front chest has a gauzy lining in strips on either side. Both those strips of gauzy lining have tears as shown in the photos. I am not sure why just those small areas are lined, but the tears to not affect wear. What Diane Likes About This DressI always like to see a Miami made label. Miami was a very big design and manufacturing center in the 50s and 60s. The pieces that came out of Miami are always so chic and fashionable. This dress is a great example of that. The embroidery goes all throughout the dress. When you look at it from far away, the center pattern is really beautiful. Up close, you see the interesting seaming along the front chest. You can see the modernist design that was popular in Miami, presenting itself in this dress. The design is rich, yet structured.
