Description: Up for auction is a beautiful cover from Alois Jaros in Prague, Bohemia Moravia to Josefa Jarosova a prisoner in the women's concentration camp in Ravensbruck Germany with the original letter contents. Postmarked April 5, 1945. Very clear Ravensbruck cancels and markings. The stamp has been removed by German censors. Exceptionally rare item, the camp was liberated by the Red Army on April 30, 1945, 25 days after this cover was mailed. At the end of March, 1945, the SS evacuated some 20,000 prisoners on a forced death march to escape the Red army. Some prisoners were still in the camp when it was liberated. Concentration camp covers from this late in the war are exceptionally rare given the overall chaos that engulfed the collapse of the third Reich. Moreso with the letter contents which are stamped received by the concentration camp censor. For the serious collector of Judaica and Holocaust related philately this is an exceptional item.
