This is a beautiful vintage map here put our the the US Naval Dept. during World War II. This is Map No. 4, which covers the Naval history in the North Pacific Area of the Japanese Theater. There were a total of 6 maps published that captured the activity in both theaters. The 6 maps printed by the Naval Dept. were 1) The Mediterranean, 2) The South China Sea, 3) World War II in the North Sea Area, 4) The North Pacific Area, 5) Southwest Pacific, and 6) We Fight a Global War. The six original maps were prepared by the Educational Services Section Bureau of Naval Personnel. They were intended to educate US service members on the current status of the war, provide background information and statistics about the regions of the world, depict pivotal strikes and battles with vivid illustrations, denote the globalized supply chains and trade routes and reveal the actions and intentions of the 'enemy', particularly Japan and Germany. Overall, a truly fantastic and historical piece to own.
