Description: This very fine 21" Art Pottery lamp from the MUTUAL SUNSET LAMP COMPANY dates to the 1930-40's era, possibly a Gilbert Rohde design. There are no chips or cracks, the ornate brass base is handsome and well crafted - this is a hi-grade lamp - when I first saw it the pottery reminded me of Rookwood - very fine and heavy at 5 pounds or so. The base is signed M S L Co 4929. I haven't disassembled the lamp, so, if it is a known pottery all the better. The renowned 20th Century designer Gilbert Rohde created a purported 50 or more decorative lamps for the company, as mentioned above it is a possibility this fine piece was among them. Rohde or not, this alone suggests the level of style awareness and caliber of product created by Sunset Out of a fine estate - buyer pays 19.95 safe bubble shipping and tracking EAST of the Mississippi -***- shipping is 28.95 WEST of the Mississippi More than just a pretty picture.
