The plates were originally issued in parts between 1829-31 before being brought together in this volume. The majority of the lithographs were done by one of Pugin?s students, Benjamin Ferrey, under Pugin?s supervision. Ferrey was a talented architectural draughtsman, and many of the illustrations in Pugin?s earlier publications bear Ferrey?s signature. He went on to become the Pugins? biographer, as well as a successful practising architect, serving twice as vice-preseident of the RIBA. First edition.
